East TN UU Cluster Covenant (ratified by our congregational Boards of Trustees in June, 2011)
To
facilitate the growth of Unitarian Universalism in East Tennessee, and
as a practice of our Unitarian Universalist values, We, the
Congregations of East Tennessee do affirm that:
Cluster members will cultivate mutual respect for each other and for the work each is doing.
Cluster members will allocate resources to jointly promote & advance UUism in East Tennessee.
Cluster members will value and celebrate the differences, ideas,
spirit and abilities of each congregation, mindful of differences in
size and location as they affect our joint endeavors.
To work together, we covenant that:
Member congregations will choose three official lay representatives
(ministers are always welcome) to attend cluster meetings &
activities.
Member congregations will promote Cluster training events and workshops to their members.
Official Cluster representatives will be chosen annually by their home congregations.
We will include (or inform) other congregations in the planning
phase of activities which publicly promote our faith in East Tennessee.
We will commit people, time and other resources to accomplish cluster goals.
Cluster representatives will report to their member churches' Boards of Trustees on the plans and actions of the Cluster.
We will be transparent in our actions and commitments
We will keep the commitments we make to the cluster.
